Cool.

On Father's Day, Adam and I did something that would make my Dad really proud!! We went to Road Runner Sports and got new running shoes!

My old Saucony's have seen way too many miles and Adam's old Brooks' never seemed to work well for him, so we both had our feet and running strides watched, scanned, tested. I thought it was really fun, and turns out we have very similar feet! We both have particularly high arches and some other stuff that I didn't totally understand that was the same.

So - we got twin shoes!


Cool, huh? They're definitely the ugliest shoes I've ever had but I think that makes me even a little more endeared to them.

Yes, there could be a 10k or maybe, maybe another half marathon in store for us and our Asics...

San Diego Day

Sunday we spent a fun day in San Diego with Lauren and Andrew! San Diego has been on our to-do list for quite some time so we finally put it on the calendar and made it happen!! It's less than 1.5 hours from our house, so it's a perfect day trip!!

We started on the isthmus (not to be confused with an island) of Coronado and rented bikes and a surrey - it was perfect - we traded half way through!

After getting in our exercise, we drove through Balboa Park and then headed to The Tin Fish for lunch - yay for fresh seafood!

Then we walked through the Gaslamp District and made a stop at Horton Plaza - here's Andrew with Mr. Horton himself!

Next we headed for Old Town and did a quick drive through there, then on to La Jolla, where Adam took as many opportunities as he could to pronounce the town's name incorrectly because he thought it was fun (correct is La Hoya not La Jolla as in Jolly).


The area reminds me so much of Laguna - I felt right at home! Viewing the seals (or sealions? Is there a difference?)!





One of the many great things about hanging out with the Kings is getting to learn really interesting architecture stuff. It's always SO interesting! We made a stop at the Salk Institute that is famous for its building's architecture and construction out of basic materials like concrete - it was so cool!




After La Jolla, we drove up the coast through all of the great little beach towns - Del Mar, Carlsbad, Solana Beach, etc - there are so many places that I want to go back to and spend more time at!

We finished up the night with another seafood meal at the Fisherman's Galley in San Clemente:



Whew! What a packed but awesome day! We love San Diego!

Well, Shannon has stepped up for the right-side! We're all tied up for babies, though lefties still hold the blog lead!


Shannon is such a great mom to Samuel and is going to be great with 2!!

Speaking of #2, Judah arrived Monday afternoon at a small 10lbs 4oz! Katie, you get TWO gold stars for that effort!! Congratulations!!

Adam and Michelle's wedding

One of the million things that I love about my job is getting to be a part of friends' weddings. It's so meaningful to me to get to witness the weddings but also contribute to their memories of their day!


Over Memorial Day, I got to shoot my friend Adam's wedding (see photoblog for more photos). We went to Samford together and both spent a couple of summers in Greenville, SC working at a church camp (ok, I shouldn't lie - it was Traveler's Rest, SC, but Greenville is so much more cosmopolitan . . . ). So, needless to say, we have lots of fun memories together and lots of mutual friends, so I knew the wedding would be so great!! Not to mention that I LOVE his wife Michelle and am so happy that they are together!

There's never enough time but at least I got to see many long lost friends and get little snip-its about people's lives! Here are some of the wonderful people that I got to see:

I've loved hearing what everyone is doing with their stimulus checks. This is what Ryanne is doing with hers (I copied her blog title). Melissa and Thomas are still deciding what to do with theirs. What about you?

Ours finally came this week!!! Woohoo! And, since we seem to be the last among the recipients, George W. will be happy to know that we pre-stimulated the economy by spending ours before we even received it! On what do you ask?

Yes! Flander got a new friend - I can tell that they like each other already!! This is the start of a beautiful friendship!


Yoda the Toyota (guess who got to name him?) is going to be Adam's so unfortunately we'll be saying good-bye to Adam's old Blazer. While I can't say that I'm sad to see the Chevy go, it has made it many miles for us including a cross-country trip from TN. Now, who wants to use their stimulus check to take it off our hands? We'd be happy to oblige!

Congradulations!!

Tonight, Adam graduated from the UCLA program that he has been doing all year! I'm so proud!


It has been a big sacrifice of time and energy but he has learned a ton and has 2 new fabulous screenplays to show for it (if you email him and ask really really nicely, he might let you read one of them)!! I'm not sure if this makes him a UCLA alum or not since it's technically not a degree, but it's still fun to pretend like he is.

He may end up going back for a few more classes in the fall, but for now, I get him back at home for 2 additional nights a week! Woohoo!

The announcement!!

So, if you read all of the post from yesterday, you saw that we have some exciting news! And, no, we're not pregnant.

But my sister is!!!


Yay!! I'm so excited to be getting a new niece or nephew - woo hoo! It's such a blessing and there is so much to be thankful for with this pregnancy! We are so excited for his/her arrival in January '09!!

I like being an aunt! And maybe this "b" will inspire Anne to strive for the hot pink B! Sometimes they come in pairs!

This also means the lefties take the lead in both babies and blogs - come on right side! Who will step up to the plate for the team?

A weekend of celebrating

SECOND CELEBRATION: Celebrating the impending arrival of Gio Tafalla! Unfortunately I forgot to take any pics but here's a lovely photo of Sue and her daughter Lea that I stole from her blog. It was great celebrating her and catching up with friends!


THIRD CELEBRATION: Celebrating Lauren's official receipt of her Masters Degree from Fuller! Only 2 more years until she's Dr. King - we're so proud! We couldn't get tickets to the actual ceremony but we spent the evening celebrating with them in Pasadena.

We ended the night with 21 Choices, a stroll through the Paseo chalk art, and 2 quick celeb sightings of Ann Curry* and Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite. We're so proud of Lauren and all of her hardwork! You are so amazing and are already doing such great things!!

*Sighting can only be confirmed by 1 of 4 - though she has her Master's, we're still all a little skeptical. Can anyone comfirm or deny that Ann Curry was in LA over the weekend?
