Welcome Baby Cole!

After some rocky moments over the weekend, Baby Cole is safely here - and 5 weeks sooner than we were expecting!! They are all doing great and Cole Trabue Warren is tiny but precious!!

Congrats, Josh and Jaime!!!

On the Road Again

Well, we are gearing up for another awesome trip. I know - my job is tough - we have to go work in Lake Tahoe. It's going to be brutal!

Since Adam and I aren't natives, we decided to make a road trip out of it and spend several days driving up the coast and seeing more of our state! The farthest north I've ever been in Cali is Santa Barbara. Adam's been to San Fran once but he was really sick part of the time and was in a mini-van with 4 other guys and they were driving through the night - I guess that's another blog for another day, though.

Here's a rough outline of our plan (feel free to enlarge for a better view of yet another photoshop masterpiece):


I've highlighted our important stops along the way:

Orange house = our home in Orange county (get it?)
Red shopping cart = Camarillo outlets (shout out LK!)
Peaceful blue waves = Monterey, CA
Purple railroad tracks = trolley tracks of San Francisco
Green Pine Tree = Lake Tahoe!

Let me know if anyone has suggestions of any must-do's in these areas. We're so excited and I'm sure we'll have lots to share when we get back!

I've inherited the love of many things from my mom. These things include (but are not limited to):

1) Dishes
2) Weddings
3) Outlet Malls

And, just for the record, I should probably establish a few things that we don't share a love of:

1) Peyton Manning (It's not that I dislike him, but I don't love him as she does)
2) Tomatoes
3) Gloria Estefan

Anyway, back to the outlet mall thing. In April, Adam and I were driving to a wedding in Temecula and passed a new outlet mall that I didn't know about in Lake Elsinore and one thing in particular caught my attention - Pottery Barn Outlet!




We didn't have time to stop that night, but this past week we were headed that way again and got to stop and relish in all of it's glory - it's big, has Williams Sonoma stuff of course and apparently PB makes West Elm as well. It was awesome. And we now have new bedside lamps!

The OC hearts Presidents

Just want to be sure that everyone is tuning in/Tivoing tonight's event at Saddleback Church with the presidential candidates - supposedly Rick is going to go pretty hard on them so I'm excited to watch!

Lake Forest/Portola/Purpose Drive (don't miss that TR) are looking pretty spiffy these days. They've done so much work on the newest Saddleback entrance in the last few days - it looks completely different than it did a week ago. I guess they want Barack and John (and America) to be impressed.

I think it's being played on all of the major news stations and is happening at 5 our time. Enjoy!

My, how the time flies!! Today, 2 years ago, was my first post here. And oh, the fun we've had since then!!

Now if I can just convince Adam that we REALLY need a birthday cake for the occasion ... or at least that measly cupcake!

I'm probably going to cry, I said to Adam as we drove to church last Sunday. Like, a lot. I just thought you might want to know.

As if that was news to him.

We had been so busy that I hadn't had much time to think about it, but the fact that this was our last time to see Lauren and Andrew started to sink in on our drive.

We've been incredibly blessed to have the Kings only about an hour away from us here in California. There's just something about having them here that will be irreplaceable. Someone who understands what it's like to feel far away, someone to cheer for the Titans with, someone to laugh about old stories and photos with.

Lauren and Andrew both also grew up in Nashville, though we had never met until my sophomore year of college in Alabama. Lauren was that girl who was Katie's friend. And Andrew was Katie's friend's boyfriend that I dreaded running into on campus because I never knew if it was him or his identical twin ... it's always awkward when you're not sure who you are talking to.

Tricky, huh?



I'll spare you all of the stories but many psychology classes, late-night Purple Onion study sessions, and nights of living together in our sorority house later, Lauren became one of my closest friends. As college was wrapping up for both of us, these small thoughts of California were brewing in both of us - she was dying to go to Fuller for her PsyD and there was this boy in my life who lived not too far from there. Ha - what are the odds? We would joke about living in California together and going to yoga class and drinking smoothies everyday ... for the record, I'm doing a little better on the latter half of that.

So last Sunday, we celebrated the last 2.5 years of living life together here in California.


Though we only got to see them a couple of times a month, they have been invaluable in our lives and have walked with us through our engagement/wedding, the first years of marriage, and many life events that have happened in the meantime. They are constantly encouraging of mine and Adam's dreams, they always believe in us, and they've walked with us through the high's and low's of the past few years. We've felt so privileged to know their lives in Pasadena - meeting their friends, seeing Lauren learn and grow through school, and hearing about Andrew's ideas and designs. We're so proud of what they are accomplishing and what lies ahead for each of them.

So, Andrew's currently on the road to NC for architecture school and Lauren will follow in a few days. We're sad to be losing them here but so excited for what's in store as they, too, chase their dreams.

So now that we've checked CA off our list, we talk of raising our kids together one day. Preferably in houses that Andrew will design for us. And preferably next door to each other with architecture/therapy/photography/writing space in between so we can all hang out all day. It sounds crazy but so does moving to California ...

We love you guys and are so excited for this next chapter of your lives to begin.
