Happy Happy!!

We came home tonight from the grocery store tonight with this:


Yup! Adam let me pick one box, but of course he will have to hide it from me for the next couple of weeks due to this little thing I call "lack of self-control".

Here's some interesting things that relate:

1) Thin Mints account for 25% of cookie sales.

2) The only kinds I'll eat are Thin Mints and Samoas.

3) Both of these are best when cold or frozen.

4) I also love Edy's Thin Mint Chocolate Ice Cream - oh yum! I first had it at Adam's house in high school and still love it many years later!!



5) My mom was the cookie mom - boo yah.

6) No words needed:

2nd Annual Oscar Party

Last night we hosted our Second Annual Oscar Party which is a little bit funny considering our little place is pretty tight, but we packed in as many as we could!

For the second year, we all filled out Oscar ballots (see previous entry). Adam was the early favorite in the competition but in the end, the birthday girl Jaime had a strong showing as well to tie with Adam for first place with 15 correct categories - congrats!


The new element that we added this year was the requirement of a food item that was related to an Oscar nominee (person or film). It was so fun to see what everyone came up with! Here's what all we had:

It was a fun night of (mostly) friendly competition and great food! FYI I also posted some thoughts about my favorite acceptance speech on my photoblog this morning! How precious was Marketa?

Here's Your B

Yay! Yay! We have a very exciting addition to the Baby/Blogger diagram and finally it's a new Hot Pink B! And, it's awarded with honor to the one and only Kelly Taylor Davenport!! Kelly and I became good friends the summer after my freshman year at Beach Project in Panama City Beach, FL when we shared a hotel room with 8 other girls. Wow - maybe I should do a blog series about memories from that summer - yikes. Anyway, the best thing I got out of it was a great new friend, Kelly!! Hinsons Rock the OC

So last week/weekend we had some really awesome visitors come all the way to California just to see us: The Hinsons (Shae+Katie+baby #2!!). Katie has been my friend since I was in 7th grade and we've remained super close throughout our high school days together and also in college at SU. And since you were wondering, yes - she is holding Golden Spoon with cookie dough topping in the photo below - she's a wise woman.


Ok, confession: they didn't really come just to see us but rather for a conference for Shae and it just happened to be in Dana Point! Yippee! I'll try to keep it a little vague because I don't want to steal the thunder from her blog, but we had all of the usual fun. They were here just as the SoCal weather peaked last weekend and it made the time even more fun!

The Kings came down from the 'Dena and we all had a big slumber party.


Here are some highlights in chronological order:

- Tacos, chips and salsa at La Sirena (Laguna Beach)

- Shopping around Laguna for little boy clothes!

- Walking the boardwalk at Main Beach in Laguna

- Gelato at the really good place in Laguna that I only know how to get there - can't explain it or tell you the name

- Lunch at Ruby's at the end of Balboa Pier


-Watching the fisherman and deciding that it would be cheap and fun to catch Adam and I's dinner each week

-Fashion Island

-Sighting of MY CELEB LITTLE SIS!

- Sprinkles!

- Dinner at Salt Creek Grille

- Girl time at the Montage:


- Lunch at The Cottage Restaurant

- Shopping at South Coast Plaza . . . we love maternity Gap! Lauren looked great with the fake belly strapped on. How did I miss the photo of that?

- Playing Celebrity (mainly watching Lauren's face during the charades portion)

- Telling old stories from high school and college - the King twin stories are the best!

- Rock Harbor

- Chipotle!

- Spending time with precious friends!!

Thanks for sharing your vacation with us, Hinsons. We loved showing you our lives here but mostly getting to see your precious faces!!!

Taste and Believe

I know that I've mentioned it before, but I just wanted to remind everyone that the Jersey Mike's in Foothill Ranch is now open! Yippee! A great Eastern tradition that has moved west!

I wouldn't really call myself a sandwich person, per se. I'm not opposed to them but I rarely have times of craving a good sandwich - it just doesn't do it for me. And I do have a strictly enforced rule of no sandwiches for dinner - it just feels like lunch! Jersey Mike's, however, is quite the exception to this (I'm enjoying it for dinner even now as I type!).

Today Adam and I ran in and each picked up a Giant sub - turkey/provolone for me and he got the Jersey Shore Favorite, both served up Mike's Way. They're a little on the expensive side but it will be at least 3 meals for each of us and they're so delicious that it's totally worth it! I know that I can be slightly prone to exaggeration, but as I was eating mine at lunch today I was really contemplating if it was the best sandwich I'd ever had in my life.
