The Announcement!

Well... thanks so much to everyone for voting in our poll! It was so fun ~ I'll have to think of another one to post!

We had a great doctor's appointment today and are thrilled to announce that 52% of you are wrong because... it's a boy!!


Adam and I had both been thinking boy all along, so it was nice to not get a total shock today! All of the other measurements that they took at the ultrasound were right on track with where he should be ... so we are thrilled and thankful at the continued health of our little one!

Catching up: Birmingham

In May, Adam and I got to spend several awesome days in one of my favorite cities ... Birmingham! We were in to shoot a wedding one weekend, then got to come back the next weekend to see sweet Caroline get baptized.

Of course I didn't take enough pics, but we spent a fun couple of days bumming around my favorite places, seeing fun friends, and of course visiting restaurants ... Homewood, Mountain Brook, Samford, downtown, etc., etc. It warms my soul to be there!

We got to spend Mother's Day (no, I don't really think it counted for me...or maybe just a half) with Anne on her first mother's day and my mom. Caroline attended Mother's Day Brunch in her bumbo:



The next weekend we came back for church at OMPC and Caroline's baptism:

Dinner Date

I got to have a wonderful though too-short dinner date with these lovely ladies last weekend! We tried out Cantina Laredo in the Gulch (sorry Kel, not the Gulf).


It's hard to beat time with wonderful girlfriends ... I'm so lucky to have them all in my life!

Excuses and Baby Update

First, excuses. We're waist-deep in wedding season so personal life goes from semi-existent to pretty much non-existent during this time of year. That includes this blog, as you know. But hopefully the happenings on my photoblog (did you switch to the new URL yet?) are enough to make you not hate me ... please?

I thought I'd check in with a quick baby update. We are officially 18 weeks and Folkenflik is supposedly growing into the size of a tomato this week. Crazy! We will be half-way done in a matter of days. I totally can't believe it.

Oh, and yes. We call he/she Folkenflik, affectionately named after one of our favorite NPR reporters. Super nerdy, huh?

I'm thankful to be in second trimester and (knock on wood) finished with the throwing up, nausea, etc. I can't say that that the past 18 weeks have been a walk in the park, but hey, it could always be worse, right? So I'm trying to be thankful and count my blessings.

Now, what you really probably want to see...


Not a ton happening but definitely can tell a big difference over the past couple of weeks. I'm starting to believe what everyone has been telling me all of this time ... there may be something actually happening in there!

We can't wait for our 20 week ultrasound in just 2 weeks. Trying not to think about it too much but we're definitely counting the days somewhat impatiently. We're anxious to learn more about our little one! There are some STRONG opinions out there that we've heard about boy vs. girl.
