#1A)

#1B)

#2)

I can make unlimited changes to either one, so your vote can be contingent (e.g.#2 but make the circle bigger, etc., etc).
Also, I am the proud new owner of www.maryrosenbaum.com. Eventually my fabulous website will be there, but for now it just points to my photoblog. So when you are referring me to all of your friends, you can remember the maryrosenbaum.com address to pass on more easily than the longer blogspot address. And it rhymes . . . kind of.
Just say it to yourself . . . maryrosenbaum.com. Almost.
Kind of like logo vote-o.

I like 1B the best. I love the brown color--It is totally you--earthy and cool.
ooo...Please come salsa dancing. Also, Friday night is swing dancing if you like that better--it only lasts through August, so let us know if you want to come one weekend. You could stay at our apt. that night if you didn't want to drive home--we have a sweet air mattress. I got a hilarious mental picture of Adam, "not being able to resist the Latin beat."
I love the colors and I really like the designs of both 1A&B. And I really like the cursive font. However, as someone who has signed 'Rosenbaum' as my name for the first 25 years of my life, I wonder if that particular font might make the last 4 letters hard to read. I wonder if potential clients who aren't famillar with your name might not be able to read it and therefore remember it as easily?
OR it is possible that I am just a bit sensitive to the many Rosenbaum name discussions that have occured in my life that you can now look forward to! :)
Regardless, I think they are all good choices and congrats on the logo and website!
ok, in my humble "professional" opinion, i definitely like #1 better than #2... not a HUGE fan of #2. as for which text layout, you wouldn't have to pick just one - you could use whichever fits best in a particular layout. i probably like the more horizontal one best, but you may find that there are applications where the more vertical stacked one just works better.
i also like that first design better because the mark could stand on its own as a visual element, without the inclusion of the text... like in the bottom corner of your photos as a sort of signature/watermark to copyright them on your blog. it could also be reversed out of a dark photo if need be, whereas the 2nd one would almost have to be in 2 colors at all times. i could even see using that curve on #1 as a design element on your website as well...
is the mark on #1 supposed to symbolize something that i'm not picking up on, or is it just a pretty thing? and if you don't mind me asking, who did you have design these? just curious... i always like to educate myself on the competition... :D
ok, that was a ridiculously long response. hope it helps!
My favorite is #1 - I'm not sure which version. My biggest concern is the readibility like Melissa noted - what does everyone else think? Do we think that matters?
Diane - thanks for the thoughts! Professional opinions are the best! I used logoloft.com - a friend recommended them for cheap and fast turnaround. The icon is just an abstract design - its not supposed to be anything!
i think Melissa has a really valid point... especially if you're just starting to really get your name out there as a photographer. it depends... if you're pretty sure that most of your publicity is going to have your name listed on it somewhere else (i.e. on your business cards, in your web address, etc.), then maybe it's not a huge deal.
but you do lose that distinction between the n, the u and the m - i don't know how custom they are willing to go, but you might ask if they could manipulate the type a bit to help distinguish between those letters. otherwise, you might see if they could give you samples of your name in some other script options to see if maybe a slightly different one would work better for readability.
As a complete NON-professional, my vote is for 1B, but ditto on the last part of Rosenbaum. Also, it seems like the word "photography" is pretty light- although that could just be on my screen....
So excited for you!

and i haven't finished it yet--not even 1/2 way through. i calculated i have 3 free hours of the day that i spend showering, eating, getting dressed, going to the bathroom, checking email and real mail, and studying. that leaves little time for a full-blown obsession.
and happy birthday, harry while we're at it. no, i could never forget it. i even got a jumbo brownie in the food court today to celebrate.
#1B
#2, easier to read i think!!:) Love it!!
AND... you could just use the circle with the MR for smaller things too!!
1B but I agree with everyone else that the Rosenbaum might need to be more clear
i like 1b- everything on one line. simple. have you considered maryrosenthebomb.com though? congrats mary, you are awesome!!!
vote for 1B
dido the thoughts on the font being hard to read for someone who isn't familiar with your last name... but I LOVE it! You are great mary!
OMG...how are you going to choose...i like #2 if the "R" in the circle could look a little more like an "R"....they are both awesome! Congrats dude!
hum, i'll add my vote for 1B, but echo the crowd that rosenbaum could be a bit clearer, but i am LOVING that font.
1B
1B, I think. So exciting! Cute hair, btw.
