I shouldn't be a citizen

So, I just took this test that Jess had on her blog - apparently it's the new Citizenship test that will be issued this fall . . . and I didn't pass. 65% does not equal citizenship - I hope I don't get deported.

I'm not afraid to confess my own weaknesses, so here's what I didn't know:

When was the Constitution written? I was only off by 11 years

How many amendments does the Constitution have? Again, only off by 4!! I should get half credit for that!

What territory did the US buy from France in 1803? ok, probably should have gotten that

We elect a US Senator for how many years? also should have gotten this

Who was president during WW1? WW1 - not really my specialty

How many justices are there on the Supreme Court? I almost picked the right one on this

Who is the Chief Justice of the US? Not gonna lie - total guess

In my defense:

1) I haven't had a history class for 10 years!! Somehow I wiggled out of it at good old SU.

2) Here's the class where I was supposed to have learned all of this - no wonder I was off a little. And there was a cute boy who sat right behind me everyday so how's a girl supposed to concentrate?

Happy 4th!!!

Edit: I also just remembered that my senior year I dropped my AP History class and ended up taking an Independant Photography study instead . . . see! It was all predestined!! If I knew history/government I would be single and unemployed!!

Ooo, nice. I also haven't had history since high school, but constitutional law + founding father biographies + john adams miniseries = success. (Yes, I read 2/3rds of a biography of Alexander Hamilton about 3 years ago. Law school turned me into a big nerd.)

I did have a lawyer-friend who scored the same as you, and considering lawyers have to know some of this stuff, don't feel too bad. :)

Mary, if you (an intelligent American woman) didn't passe this test, I will not even try and stay forever a proud Greencard Holder.

I finally took this quiz this morning ( I totally should be cleaning) and scored a 70%. The two questions that saved me were the Supreme Court questions. Thomas had me memorize the names of all of the justices a while back, so I got those right.

Otherwise, I did really, really bad.
