My grandmother aka Mither and Anne ready to go in Nashville:

The reason for the trip was that J.Alexander's had a new restaurant opening there (we know some people) and opening weekends are the BEST - so we thought we'd just all make a vacation of it!

Adam and I were feeling pretty under the weather, but it actually worked out great as we really got to relax and recover - might as well be doing it in Scottsdale, right? There was plenty of shopping, relaxing, emergency McDonald's runs for the pregnant one, swimming, football-watching - it was so fun to just all be together and hang out (sorry we missed you Dan).
The boys all played golf one day on a really nice course - Adam said he played the worst he ever has - nice!:

Enjoying the scenery - you can see a little pooch!

Breakfast at the famous Pancake House - Anne got the Apple Pancake - wow!

The main event at J. Alexander's - for openings, they always have a couple of practice days for the servers - we're happy to let them practice on us anytime!!

A few days and about 10 pounds later, we rolled back home to life, work, and reality in SoCal ~ luckily we found this special thing on the way home - someone was VERY excited:

We have a nerdy little family game that we play to all keep track of the different J.Alexander's locations that we've been to. It's really fun to see the different restaurant layouts, decors, etc. I know - I confessed it was nerdy up front. So with the addition of Scottsdale, this brings me to 14 out of 33 - the recent additions of Orlando and soon-to-be Jacksonville locations really hurt to bring me to less than 50%. Hoping to up that number again soon! Anyone wanna go to Denver?

Fun post!! Everytime we go to THE ORIGINAL J.Alexanders on White Bridge Road...(which is usually every Friday night after the mba games)...i always want to tell the waiters that I know one of the founders and the CFO. but i never do...
Drew and I will go to Denver with you guys. We would jump on that anyday. We are off to Denver tomorrow and will be thinking of you!!

Next time you are in Scottsdale, you better give us a call!
Great post! Love the pictures of Anne (who needs a blog).
Oh my goodness- I LOVE J Alexanders. I try to eat there every time I'm in Nashville. We should coordinate our next trips so you can show me all the great Nashville places :)
Hope you guys are doing well!
so when i read that you went to scottsdale and then saw that first picture of all the luggage (hilarious, by the way) i thought you meant scottsboro, al which is where the unclaimed baggage place is. i guess just seeing all the luggage in that picture made me make that connection. i was momentarily hurt that you were "so close" and didn't let me know you were around so we could shop for random things people never claimed.
but, you were talking about scottsdale, ca. i am assuming. don't know where that is, but wish i could have been there too. sounds like fun!
anne is super cute with her little belly!
Callen ~ The opening weekend of the original location was the best. I was young but still have lots of memories from it. The other family game we play is reminiscing about old menu items that have gotten the boot.
Cathi ~ Yes! That would be so fun! That's fun to have CA friends who even know what J.Alexander's is!
Melissa ~ You know I would never do that to you but it's funny to think about our family taking a vacation to Scottsboro. Scottsdale is a swanky mini-resort town that is a suburb of Phoenix. It's famous for golf courses, shopping, hot weather, and now, for J.Alexander's.
Mary, I love that black, white, and green dress! :) Love you!

....i'm rusty, that's all I got right now. Glad I went to Auburn to see the demise of several things including UT's footbal team and coach instead of stuffing my face with JALEX.
